FAQ

FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

Q: I'm a musician. How do I signup?
A: Simply send an email to openmicrome@gmail.com with your name and the date of the Open Mic Night that you'd like to perform at.

Q: How many songs can I play/sing/perform?
A: Every artist can play up to 3 songs. On some nights we have well over 20 musicians, so we want to make sure that everybody gets a shot. Once everybody had a chance to play and there is time left, musicians have the chance to play another three songs.

Q: I don't play an instrument. Can I bring an iPod/Karaoke track?
A: The Open Mic is not a Karaoke event (no offense to Karaoke events), but we understand that it's not always possible to bring your band with you, so yes, it is possible.

Q: I'm not a musician. I do standup comedy or write poetry or [insert your super-artistic skill here]. Can I still perform?
A: Absolutely! If you have something to share we'd love to hear/see/experience it. In this case the performance is limited to up to 10 Minutes.

Q: Is this event for musicians only?
A: This event is open to everybody! In fact, we encourage exchange between musicians, travellers, locals etc. We think it's great to share your stories!

Q: How do I get to the venue?
A: You can either get there by bus, by metro or even by tram, all of which are within or less than 5 Minute walking distance. The closest metro stops are Vittorio Emanuele, Termini Train Station and Cavour. Busses stop at S. Maria Maggiore. (right around the corner) and the Tram stops in Via Farini or Via Napoleone (depending from which side you arrive).

Q: Can we reserve tables?
A: We try to keep a table reserved for you, but the venue works on a first come, first served basis, so it is not always possible to have a fixed table set aside. But simply ask the host (Sal) during the event or the friendly staff behind the bar for seating and we'll make sure you'll get a great spot. Also don't be shy to make new friends and sit with people you don't know. After all, it's a great way to make new friends!

Q: Do I have to pay to participate at this event?
A: Nope, it's all free and will stay that way forever.

Q: Do I need to bring my own instruments?
A: We provide two acoustic guitars, a bass, a piano and all the microphones. So if you play any of those instruments, you're more than welcome to use ours.

Q: I prefer to use my own guitar/bass. Can I bring it?
A: Sure! You can bring your own instrument if you prefer.

Q: Are there any drums?
A: We don't have a fixed drumset (some musicians bring a cajón), but we try to organize them once a month. If so, we will publish it on our facebook page.

Q: I have more questions! Who can I talk to?
A: Just write an email to openmicrome@gmail.com or send us a tweet: @openmicrome and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!
